I had a 1986 Nissan "Hardbody" that sold for $800 at 286,000 miles. Muffler replaced three times. Brakes and clutch once. But it was manual everything and no AC.

My 2005 Dakota now has 157,000 miles. Water pump let me down at 100,000 miles but no other breakdowns. (Apaperently common life time foir that water pump. Should have watched Dakota websites.) Trans cooling lines and thermostat replaced. Had an early rear oil seal leak but dealer warranty item. Rolling just fine right now. Have a 80 mile daily R/T commute plus hunting fishing towing every weekend. Has towed a 19 ft boat to Canada for vacation 9 years in a row with no hickups.

I will not buy foreign vehicles
Screw GM and Dodge, they took bailout money and repayed the money with more bailout money. Saying I buy American when its a global economy is dumb as well. Toyota has plans in America as Ford has plants in China and most parts are made in S. America. It's not 1950's anymore and GMT will be in the same situation in a few years because they did nothing to fix a broken business model a fat Union contracts.

Owned a toyota 4-runner and put up 245,000 miles than gave to my mechanic in work. bought a Ford f-150 and got 140,000 miles with nothing but trouble. Bought a 2006 Tundra crew cab and it is still driving like a new truck after 306,000 miles.Replaced the timing chain at 297,000 & front wheel bearings at 301,000, drive shaft support at 304,000...other than that simple normal maintenance. Not even thinking of replacing it. Enough said.

People say by AMERICAN I agree 100%, but when that AMERICAN company like GM has the parts of their trucks made around the world then build the truck here, how much is that truck truly AMERICAN? When we have companies like Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Honda, etc. making most parts here and also built here they are adding more to AMERICA then GM, also the quality control is much better with the those companies then GM. We all work hard for our money, we have families to spend time with, I can't be going back and forth to the dealer to have my truck fixed cause they couldn't fix it from day one. Everyone of these companies will have problems, the question is do they fix it the first time for the customer and do they improve on the problems for future models? To me a truck/car is nothing more then a added bill, but I want the least amount of problems, and over the many years of driving and owning many different brands I will stick with Toyota

I drive a dodge. But hate when people tell other people to buy american. Toyota has plants in america and ford has plants over seas....that saying just doesnt make sensce. My next truck may be a tacoma and dont care whart other people think haha. There good reliable trucks. My gf dad has a real old one. Has 310,000 miles on it! Still runs strong!

1998 Dodge Ran 2500 4X4 Club Cab w/ the Cummins 24v diesel ... this truck has just over 100,000 original miles & runs like new. The only problem with the Dodge is the paint job. The clearcoat hazed up & truck needs to be repainted. Considering what a new diesel costs, a paint job is an easy fix to have a "new" truck again.
keep an eye on the lower doors and rockers, they rust bad!
Oh and if you want look on the block above the oil pan on the driverside front, you will see numbers casted in the block, if you have a 53 those blocks crack but if not I would keep that truck forever if I were you.

I just got a 2013 Tacoma Quad Cab and am so far loving it. I just donated a 2000 Dodge Durango w/ 138K miles to the Vietnam Veteran's Association, but the tranny was shot and the truck not road worthy for the last 2 years.

I loved my Durango when I got it, it was the first vehicle I truly wanted. I tried to take the best care of it that I could, and (stupidly) had most the service done at the local Dodge dealer, and ended up with some whopper repair bills to prove it. Despite my best intent and efforts, the truck started falling apart after 100K miles. Aside from the tranny, a bunch of other things on the truck didn't work and needed replacement/repair such as the AC, the power windows, power locks, and on an on.

dont you guys want to drive something nice? ford, gmc, chevy, an dodge are nice truck. nissan an toyota are all ugly trucks imo.
My wife begged me to get rid of my ugly ass, paint chipped, rusty wheeled, two tone Chevy Silverado because it was devalueing our home! She never drove that truck but now loves taking my Tacoma to go shopping and run errands with the boy. I will admit that a lifted 4 door Dodge is a hell of a looker, but my trans will last at least twice as long as the Hemi.
