GO to the manufaturers web sites and get the ballistics you are looking for. As for wich slug works best, get a good rest and shoot them all. You might be surprised to see how different they might shoot. Good Luck!

Had the same questions when I got mine, read this thread for some ballistics info.

I shot all the slugs I mentioned and ended up with Lightfields. Cheaper than others, shot nice and did not pack a punch.[up]

I bought the same gun (20ga too) two years ago for a shotgun hunt in Illinois. I tried the bullets you mentioned along with the Lightfields. After grouping the 4 different "brands" of slugs, the Hornasy SSTs grouped best.

If you belong to the sportsmans guide "club", you can get pretty good prices from them. They sell 5 boxes (25 slugs) for around $50.

Try Federal Vital Shock 3" with the blue ballistic tip Barnex Expander.I got better groups with them out of my 20ga H&R USH than with the SST's.I got 1" at 100yds with them.

 

I couldn't do anything with the higher speed slugs, but some guns like them. I did best with Buckhammers.

 

i got the h and r last year and since then i shot 8 deer with it. Get 2 and 3/4 7/8 ounce lightfields there devastating deer dont go anywhere and they are extremley accurate atleast try em u wont be disapointed.

I put weaver high rings on this gun for my scope (4-44mm) The ones I bought were apparently for an objective through 42mm, but they still work with my scope. What have you guys used? Thanks.
