Yeah that's true. A lot of people do not believe in drawing simply as a show of force. It removes the element of suprise and gives your attacker a chance to adapt and defeat you. The warning shot opens you up to the possibly of hitting something unintended, like someone or someone's property. It also escalates the situation.
