My new 2014 not only burns gas but oil. GM says acceptable oil consumption level from 1 qt per 2000 miles. Was never told this when i bought this tuck. Anyone else see this. Full story :GMC/CHEVY AFM OIL CONSUMPTION-ONGOING ISSUE.

Me too. Was on 78 and oil system went on. Took it to dealer and service manager knew exactly was the problem. So the GM rep said dump the oil, bring it back in 1500 miles that's it. They put in about 2.5 qts and i only had 900 miles on motor.Just wondering by GM saying it falls in part under maintenance that this would not fall under defect. This goes back a number of years and Gm has kept this quiet.

Thats rediculous. They have become a big douche company. I had a recall done and 18 months later the same issue happened. They tried to say environmental conditions and refused to cover it a second time. I tried to reach the CEO but could not get past her executive office. They could not tell me what these environmental conditions were but stood by that as reason to not correct the issue a second time. I will never buy another GM vehicle as long as I can help it. I told the executive I have bought nothing but GM vehicles my entire life and asked if they were willing to dispose of a customer with my loyalty over $800 repair they know was a flaw. The answer was: "that is your decision". That told me everything I needed to know right there. I understand companies need to make money, but they do it at the expense of consumers by using cheap parts and they do not stand behind their product. F GM-- we should have let them go bankrupt.

Yes,free oil changes. What if i forget to check the oil, forgot to replace the spare oil i carry. I need a 3" ladder to get high enough to reach the dip stick. If it runs down again(2 or more qts) I will call on star which i pay for and tell them to pick up the truck, bring it back to dealer.I will look into the lemon law.

GM customer service sucks. I have had GM,s with problems in the past and only got the runaround from GM. I bought a 2014 silverado only because ford was coming out with the new truck and i like them to work the bugs out before i buy one and chevy took 10,000 off msrp.
If you buy a new GM truck make sure you keep an eye on tire ware because they come from the factory with bad wheel alignments.

Do not shoot the messenger I am a retired GM Millwright 36 years with them, seen it all, My Daughter and I bought 2014 Equinox She wanted the 4 cly I went with the 6 since i tow a small trailer, Low and behold her 4 Cly used oil just like yours, The problem was public on line The Dealer acted like it was nothing, Since I knew who to contact in the system Long story short They took hers back and put her in the exact model with a 6 Cly with only the difference in cost from 4 to 8 it only had some 5000 miles. It was not my first car from that dealer and won't be my last. Had Fords also they had their problems but they never were solved. If you go the lemon law you will lose to much of you initial Cost. Never give up they would of settled with you, Bill

I went lemon law on a brand new nissan mini van we bought. After 13 diff issues in the first 1 1/2 yr I had enough. I was prorated cost of vech 1st complaints. So let's say I paid $30,000 , the first complaint I had was at 6500 miles on van, I got back $28500 , again it took a 1 1/2 years, and 14, 000 miles on van but I got about all my money back.

That's sad to hear. I have a 2001 Sierra and its still going strong - thank goodness! Sounds like it's not worth the trouble to buy new!
