Catfish....I used a whitish glow jig tht is now devoid of paint and hair but dragged over two dozen fluke, ten or so sea robins, and three bluefish up onto the sand. Before the blues shredded it the fluke were pounding it out on a sand bump on every cast. I got three keepers.do tell yo, Im sure charlie would love to hear about the success of one of his jigs..Thats awesome..
Ohhhh boy, look who is talkin about wiffin..
Pot, meet Kettle. Kettle, meet pot...
Go to the surf rod for boat fluking....feely-feely....WHAM.... and no more misses....[up]Scrubby in your case, I am going to go out on a limb and say that it is probably not the hooks and most likely 100% angler error. Seriously though, you might also want to look into bumping up the # test you are using so you can increase your drag pressure. I honestly think you might not be getting a solid enough hookset with that light of line.
tom they only hold up to about 30 fish but I am working on that ,they do land fish thought and for the price they can not be beat ,next years batch will be on the money .I am so glad to hear you fished them w/ luck ,when you need more just say the wordCatfish....I used a whitish glow jig tht is now devoid of paint and hair but dragged over two dozen fluke, ten or so sea robins, and three bluefish up onto the sand. look at the pics cat ,most are on it ,I carry 200 dollars worth min.Is all that gulp working though Charley?
Doug i agree with this when it comes to hooks for bait espcially when it comes to the chemically sharpened hooks we use. Those hooks will rust on you after one use. But the hooks that come on jigs and plugs can and will dull over time. I am not going to throw out a good bucktail or go through the trouble of replacing siwash and treble hooks off of plugs and other jigs just because the hook dulled. They can be made sticky sharp with a few strokes of a file.I usually just tie a new hook on when one starts losing its point. You're not going to get one sharper than it comes out of the pack with any manual hook sharpener. Unless its a crap hook to begin with.
