I don't think you understand how this works. By applying for a FID you are not saying you own guns. You can apply and receive one and never buy a long gun. It is not like a pistol permit. In addition NICs is only used when buying a new long gun or buying from a FFL dealer. Lastly a FID is to buy long guns, not to own them. There is no NICs involved from private sales and no record of them whatsoever.
I think you're playing a bit of a silly semantics game with him.

I mean, if that helps you sleep a little at night with regard to New Jersey's draconian anti-gun laws, so be it. But I think it's pretty obvious that there's an extraordinary high percentage of New Jersey FID possessors who are gun owners. Probably something like 98%. For all intents and purposes, it's essentially the same as "knowing" you have a firearm or firearms in the home.

Could be dual resident, never heard of " tri residency" before.
I thought you can only "officially" be a resident of one state in these United States of America, even if you own a home in all 50 states, Puerta Rico, and the District of Columbia. Not so?

Nothing silly about assuming anything. You know what they say when you ASSume. Now I hope you can sleep a little [emoji42]

Not sure about that. I know there's a guy on NJGF that just changed over to FL because he has a townhouse there and spends at least 6 months there. I believe he has dual residency now. But I have no idea what statutes allows or don't allow this. Never looked into it myself but I've heard of such a thing. I know your a member there as well. JFoster99 search his posts about it.

I cannot believe I am reading this. Responsible gun owners should register NOTHING!
If your responsible WHY WOULDNT YOU?...something to hide?......The state knows each and every gun purchased by us (unless private sales........I didn't think of that) That's what serial numbers are for. So if the state know why cant your local gov know? whats the diff? NOTHING!!.....And as for the fireman remark you a tool!!......there is no way for the FD to know who has what.......I am career fireman and when I respond to a call I have now way of knowing if the homeowner or renting resident has or owns firearms.

Because in Germany in the 1930's they came and took everyone's guns, after they forced everyone to register them a few years earlier. Then they elslaved millions and executed 5 million because of their religious beliefs. Many of the Holocaust survivors said " if we knew this was going to happen, we wouldn't have surrendered our guns without resistance. We may have had a chance to resist". Do you get it now?

If your responsible WHY WOULDNT YOU?...something to hide?......
Because, again, there's no friggin' point in doing so.

And you still haven't told us who you're planning on murdering so that the "courtesy" you're providing the police could ever come into play.

The state knows each and every gun purchased by us (unless private sales........I didn't think of that)
Well, this is a start in explaining how someone could express your feelings, because the above statement demonstrates just how little you know about gun laws in the first place given "private sales" were an astounding incandescent light-bulb held over your head revelation to you.

Mind = Blown.

Some people just don't get it. The proposed UN arms treaty should give you a clue how screwed up this may be getting. The UN is a failure of keeping peace and they are going to control our guns??? Also the police dept is one of the last groups I want knowing I have guns.

Taxes are almost the inverse of rights in a sense. Once a tax is approved and implemented,it is almost impossible to rescind. Conversely, once you lose a right,it is almost impossible to get it back. Once we become apathetic to losing one right, what's to stop them from taking another? Many in the press push to limit or even abolish our 2a rights, but scream bloody murder when 1st amendment rights are even mildly infringed upon. I.e. the interview. An appeaser is someone feeds the the crocodile with hope it eats him last......Winston Churchill

Thanks for getting my point, common sense. People who have FID cards, tend to own guns, like people with driving licenses tend to own cars. I know that they know I own guns. Anyone who has a FID, ever had a NICS run, bought a firearms hunting license is a known gun owner. But say No to the question anyway. So I ask again, why are they asking what they already know 99% of the time?

My guess would be government inefficiency and building as many databases as possible due their lack of reliable interagency data sharing. The bottom line is that registration, historically has always led to confiscation. It's nice to see how many here get it and beyond frustrating to see how many still don't. After all, "it could never happen here" said Turkey, China, Nazi occupied Germany, Guatemala, Uganda, Cambodia, UK, Australia.... There is a world wide Caliphate being attempted and successful in many countries. It's a turtle race and they're winning. Our government is attempting to undermine our 2A rights while simultaneously arming our enemies.
But I don't really care about that, I'm busy planning a Disney vacation and watching the new season of American Idol. Besides, I think you guys are paranoid.... I mean, do you really think our country is appeasing radicalized Muslims and would give them small arms and fighter jets? Get serious. I mean do you really think we have a military industrial complex? Sheesh, talk about paranoia. Our government is trust worthy. We should hand over all of our rights because they're smarter than us and would never abuse their power by drowning us in trillions of dollars in debt while they prepare for an economic collapse while making us criminals and labeling us terrorists for having more than 7 days worth of food and water in our homes. It's not like they can hold us indefinitely with some crazy new laws they passed in the middle of the night. I mean this is America. Right? Right! ........ Happy New Year. Gotta go celebrate and bury my head in the sand some more.

Simple. Some dopey anti-gun liberal politician put it there.

Why do they ban "scary looking" guns when some guns of the same caliber, action, etc... are legal? My point is, trying to "reason" through these silly laws is sometimes a wasted task and an exercise in futility.
