Sea Ducks No, Divers yes.

 

The only sea ducks I have ever seen in Raritan Bay was a handful of scoters a few years ago just after a heavy Noreaster. However, it does hold plenty of divers such as mergs, buffies, ruddies, old squaw and bluebills.

yea, i hunt Raritan bay pretty hard, and i rememebr those scoters a few years back, We do get a lot of old squaws though, they should be just starting ro show up.

Its been years since I lost my honey hole to development and stopped hunting the bay, but we used to get some rafts of old squaw ... like the middle of second season and later.

Theres oldsquaw in the bay and maybe an occasional scoter. If you have the right boat you gotta swing out around the hook for scoters. Otherwise, build a boat blind, set out a few longlines with a couple dozen,bills,brant, and buffs and pray you brought enough ammo. Good luck.

Yes .... for seasons and baglimits, old squaws are in that group of diving ducks considered sea ducks.

They're called Long-Taileds, too.

 

i see squawas in my area all the time but in city limmits they are great looking the drakes look just like a woodie exept black and white you need to be 1 mile from any land or vegitation to be in a sea duck area

 

if your within 1 mile of shore or vegataion they are in you regular duck limit.
outside of a mile, they fall under sea duck limits.
