When does the 90 days start for the handgun permit to expire? Is it when it is approved or when you pick up the permits? I am guessing you do not really get a full 90 days once you have permits in hand.

I think the clock starts ticking from the time the police chief signs the permit, not from when you pick it up.

I was in a shop today and three firearm buyers were told that the NICS wait is up to 7-10 days now. This is getting a little ridiculous now.

I filed mind on november 28th 2012 at the state police barracks on rt 12 in kingwood nj. I stopped in last week, still not in, told me to call trenton. I did. After letting it ring for 15 minutes, someone answered and took my info, said someone would look into it and get back to me. I have 2 pistols on hold for 2 months now. I am hoping i don't loose them.

thats weird cuz i just went in yesterday 3-4-13 and bought my glock and he said when i get my permit itll be like a 30 min wait cuz its all online now

You guys waiting a long time, must not be friends with your local PD's. The most I've EVER waited was 1 week.

Good Luck! My local PD denied mine. The reason checked off was "Public Safety Health and Welfare". I called the chief of police and he couldn't give me any specific reason for the denial. I called him out and said it's because I'm a 27 year old Iraq Vet with PTSD. He denied it. I am appealing it but it's just a kick in the balls to me. Trusted with weapons to defend my country but not trusted with weapons when I get home. Makes sense.
