LACEY — A Pennsylvania man was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon last week after he tried to enter the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant with a pistol and hollow-point bullets, township police reported.
Charles Vance, 58, of Lititz, Pa. had driven his car through the front gate of the power plant on Route 9 at about 9:30 a.m. Feb. 2, according to Lt. James Veltri of the Lacey police.
Police said Vance was at the plant for business purposes, and during the normal inspection of the man's vehicle by security personnel, a loaded .32 caliber pistol and hollow-point bullets were discovered.
A security officer took possession of the gun and contacted township police.
Veltri said Vance's gun permit had expired, more so, state law prohibits entry to the nuclear facility with a weapon.
Vance was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point bullets. He was later released from township police headquarters.
