I have been hunting deer a few years with bow and doing fine. I have studied online and learned as much as I can from fellow hunters along the way. Now I want to get into turkey hunting (bow or shotgun) and no one I know turkey hunts. Looking for someone who will let me tag along and learn from. I am 43 years old and in good physical shape. I know when to be quiet, keep my mouth shut in order to listen and learn. Have the equipment.

I took up turkey hunting about 7 years ago and have a blast every spring with it. I still hunt with my hunting mentor and learn new things everytime we go out. If you are located in NNJ you are more then welcome to come out with us.

I'm also new to turkey hunting. Out of past two seasons I managed to get one. You have to be really patient and one thing I learned last year is don't give up to early. Sometimes they come in just before 12 in the last few minutes.

It's nice to see the experienced hunters offering to help out. I was thinking of starting my own thread to ask for some help, but I wasn't sure how it would go over. I've always said "gun people are good people" I'm glad to see that can be applied to hunters in general as well.

Guys not sure how far from you but on the 14th there is going to be a turkey calling contest and turkey seminars in Winslow NJ...at www.Bangerssports.com.
******* already posted about it, he will be there with his calls and giving a talk and answers any questions. Sportsmens Choice Game Calls will be there as well. Can try calls, get advise and possibly meet someone from you area willing to help and take you out.

Good luck!

search you tube, there are now thousands of great video explaining alot of different aspects of the hunt and calling techniques. they will get your blood pumping for the game.
But nothing like hearing a live bird coming in gobbling.
When a live bird comes on cranked up it sounds like the woods are going to fall down .
Its alot of fun , and just calling in a good bird is as much fun as killing one is

fxbow - I live in Morris Cty. as well, but will be hunting area 7 in Sparta during A and D weeks. If any of those days works for you (weekdays, not weekends), just shoot me a PM. I hunt both public and private lands and you're welcome to come along and even shoot if you have your permit. I'm just happy to call the birds in.
