new to the xbow this year. shooting carbon express bolts 20". what broadheads should i use? can i use my fixed blade 100 gr. muzzys? heard expandables are better for the xbow!!
I WANT TO SHOOT MY MUZZY MX 3 OUT OF MY XCALIBUR BUT MAN CANT GET THEM TO GROUP AT ALL,I HAVE REGULAR MUZZY TO GONA TRY THEM TOMORROW ALSO, I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE DAMPERS I PUT ON THE EQUINOX BECAUSE IT DEAD ON LAST SEASON BE FORE I ADDED THEM AND I WAS SHOOTING THE RAGE,
I shoot the G5 Montec, 100 grain, expensive as hell, but they fly like the field points. I've shot them into the target up to 50 yds, but I myself would probably not shoot past 35-40yds in the field. Just bought 6 more at dicks, @ 3 for $39.99, had a $15 off purchase above $75.00, so that helped.
Without a doubt, shoot the spitfires. Depending on how fast your cbow shoots, I would strongly recommend 125 gr. Unless the cbow is on the slower side, the little bit of xtra weight up front makes the arrow fly better. You should NOT worry about getting a few xtra fps by using lighter heads. It will only get you a slightly less accurate bolt. Good luck!
I've heard the worst two heads to shoot are the thunderheads and muzzy's. I was told because there are manufacturing imperfections that lead to inconsistencies. I'd give the Rage's a shot, maybe try slick tricks if you want a fixed blade.
I was a muzzy user for over 20 years but they would not group well out of my crossbow.
I found an outstanding head last year it is the blackout two blade sold by bass pro. It is made by thunderhead, groups great at 400fps,and puts deer down quick.
thunderheads were spot on up to 50 yards with my xbow with aluminum bolts and a inch low with carbons..for the price ill compinsate.. i use them for does and richmans broadheads for bucks...just pick your head and stick with it...
I shoot Carbon Express Torrid SS heads, $12.95 a 3 pack at Walmart! Shoot like field points and they are very durable, I was killing woodchucks with them out of my crossbow and reusing the heads! Best buy in archery!
A got a set of grim reapers and I lost them don't know where I put them[wallmad] does any one know where can I get them locally? It will be too late if I oorder them they are not gonna be here for Saturday
T1 Tru-Fires-100grain,$27.00 for three and they give you some replacement blades. They fly just like a field point and identical to the Parker red-hot broadheads[up]
