C.S.,
You have a PM lets see were we go.

Keith, good luck in 2008. You are somebody to look up to for determination and not quiting.

Don't worry Keith, we won't forget about you even if the thread gets buried. :D

I've been checking out a few spots and working on the details of getting your rig into good areas. One question came up though. How steep of an angle could your chair climb if there was good traction (ie metal ramps or something of the like)?

By ADA specks: Its 1ft for every inch of hieght. [hihi]

If you're thinking about getting me on a trailer to get to an area I'm all for that.

About how steep though I'm not quite sure. I'm guessing with some help getting pushed from behind I could get up something steeper then a landscaper's trailer.

If/when we meet up you see what this chair of mine can do.

Thanks again...[up]

Exactly what I was thinking. I have an old utility trailer I don't use too much anymore and was thinking about rigging it up to be towed by my jeep on dirt roads and light offroad stuff. I want it to haul an outfitters tent and ohter gear for remote camps in other states. It's going to have to be a bit higher than a regular landscape trailer for that purpose, but I can come up with long enough ramps to get your chair up into it if needed. That would work well for getting way back into a couple places that have good deer movement right by the logging roads. Not sure if you'd need the permit to shoot from a vehicle if you were to use the trailer as a blind though. Might want to look into that. My original plan was to build a few permanent blinds just off of the logging roads and clear a path to them, but maybe just setting up the trailer as a blind could be effective too...

Keith,

Your passion & determination is unbelievable!

I live in Northwest NJ. Not sure where your at, but if you ever want to hunt togethor let me know. I would be more than happy to help you succeed. Just send me a PM and we'll make it happen. Would you be able to be driven to a spot on a quad or gator?

I thought about having my Dad make a trailer for me to hunt right off of as well. Tow me in, unhitch and let me hunt. This way I wouldn't need to worry about the terrain. He has a trailer for his Jeep, but I think that one is a bit big to use. It's a 4x8 foot one.

Although, I think this way would spook the deer more. Unless a dummy blind was put where I'd hunt to allow the deer to get use to or I'd get off of the trailer to hunt...not as bulky.

At one point, my father and I were thinking about buying a used quad (cheap). Put a governor on it, make a hitch for it, make a small trailer for me and then I could trailer both from the van.

Just watch the WMA. [cry]

I'm a bit concerned about the trailer spooking deer too, but I think in some of the thicker spots I can blend it in with the vegitation fairly well. One advantage we have is it will be earlier in the fall and all the leaves will be up still. Maybe construct some sort of natural blind that the trailer backs right into. I think I can figure out a way to make it work.

In some other places, the terrain isn't too bad once you get back there. In those we'll just build shooting boxes that your chair can access. They'll be there all season long and should work out well.

I'll be working on the trailer when it warms up this spring. Once I get somewhere with it, I'll bring it over and we'll see what we have to do to make it work for your chair. Shouldn't be a big deal.
