All:

Total shot in the dark, but I accidently left my laptop on the stairs of the neighbor's house we were staying at this past weekend before the tuna trip...and amidst the chaos of phone calls, making plans, looking for parts, etc...I forgot I left it on there and left without putting it back in the house.

Left/Lost/Stolen at 142 Ocean Avenue Point Pleasant, NJ on Saturday 09/22/2007 around 11:00AM.

Knocked on doors, one neighbor confirmed he saw it out there for hours but didn't pick it up. He said he last saw it between 4:00-5:00PM.

No other leads at this time.

I honestly don't care about the laptop at all, I only care about the 100,000+ pictures I have on it from various vacations, hunting trips, fishing trips, trailcameras, etc.

If anyone has any information on it, any leads, please don't hesitate to contact me. If you happen to know who even has it, NO QUESTIONS ASKED, I just want the laptop back for the pictures in exchange for a reward.

There is probably less than a 1% chance someone here will have any info on it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If you have any info, please let me know.

Thanks,
Matt

Sorry to hear this Matt. [sad] You've had some fantastic photos that you've shot. Hope you get it back and in one piece. Did you check with the PD, in case someone turned in in?[smirk] I know it's a very slim chance, but you never know.;) If I found it, I would take it there, but then again, that's just me. [spy] Good luck. [up]

Matt, as we discussed, put an add in the APP or other local paper down there

Just as a word of advice to all the guys who love to download pictures and stuff into your laptop: get an external storage device.

It all adds up. You take one picture here one picture there one video two video three, and the next thing is you got gigs and gigs of irreplaceable data. Pretty soon before you know it your have timebomb on your hand, as most laptops typically turn out to be.

Get a external hard drive with lots of giggage. Once or twice a month just leech everything onto it. You'll have much better peace of mind.

Interesting part of the story...ran into that neighbor yesterday again, he led me away from his house right away out to the front saying he lost his glasses in the same area that is why he was cruising up there...said he filed a police report for them (?).

He told me on Sunday evening that the laptop disappears between 4-5PM after passing by it for hours several times looking for his glasses.

Another neighbor came out of her house and I wanted to talk to her real quick, I told the guy to hold on...he didn't say a word, just walked away and left...seemed strange too.

Then we ran into a lady walking her dog a little later yesterday (Monday) and she said she saw the laptop when it was dark (7-8PM).

Kind of odd...no?

I called the police and added it to the report. Kind of suspect with that one neighbor...not saying he did it, but there's a pretty big light difference between 4-5PM (very light) to 7-8PM (very dark)...plus he's been a little antsy every time I've talked to him.

Not sure what the police can do...probably nothing. If that guy does actually have it, he's had two opportunities to return it to me...so I don't think he will be. Hopefully he doesn't have it.
