Does anyone have a link to where I can read up on this? The reason I ask is Gamo, Ruger and a whole host of others sell air guns equipped with suppressors in NJ every day. Thanks
2C:39-3. Prohibited Weapons and Devices.
c.Silencers. Any person who knowingly has in his possession any firearm silencer is guilty of a crime of the fourth degree.

That's what I wanted to see. The guns I am referring to are equipped with noise reduction not silenced. Its like I said, I see Gamo, Ruger and a host of others for sale in different gun shops for the last couple of years. Thanks

Not so fast, is it intended to lessen or muffle the sound?

2C:39-1 Definitions.

g."Firearm silencer" means any instrument, attachment, weapon or appliance for causing the firing of any gun, revolver, pistol or other firearm to be silent, or intended to lessen or muffle the noise of the firing of any gun, revolver, pistol or other firearm.

In NJ air guns are considered a "firearm" and noise suppressors are illegal. Make sure yours are without.

Those arent suppressors, they're marketing gimmicks. Gamo etc... are perfectly legal in NJ.

So I guess the gamo whisper is out so is the silent cat what's a good legal pellet gun that won't break the bank
No, those guns are both perfectly legal in NJ. Again, they have marketing gimmicks on them, not suppressors. Hell, they're not even very good performing marketing gimmicks.

The Gamo folk have a whole line of "Super Crazy Uber Most Silentest Gun!" that frankly aren't even all that quiet, but yet it seems zillions of folks go that route. I have a Crosman Nitro Venom (below) that is approximately 75% more quiet than the most quiet gun in the Gamo line, and Crosman doesn't even market it as "silent", LOL.

So if quietness is a top-concern, that's a good choice. I keep it under the sound barrier at 950fps with JGB Match Diablo pellets (8.44gr), and I can make 80 yard shots with it, and that's with the crappy scope it came with. I'm 100% sure you could pull off 100 yards with decent optics. At 30'ish yards I can keep pretty nice groups.

I agree with you guys.
Why the suppressor is banned ?
I think they want your neighbors know when you shoot your airgun.
I have heard the last time somebody shoot in the backyard all the neighborhood knew it !!
that Gamo 1250 is loudly as hell !!! well, somebody told me that...

I think that is the reason, you can not be sneaky shooting that...

Now if they're not actually suppressors, I believe you would be safe. Like having a muzzle break on an ar. I would find it hard to argue that a rifle marketed as silenced, does not actually have a suppressor. Not saying you're wrong though.

The reason is because it's one more thing to take away so the could feel in power!

Have you ever shot a firearm with a real threaded can versus a pellet gun with one of these bulky hunks of plastic permanently attached to the end?

Because honestly, I dont understand why there is such massive confusion over this issue given how obvious it should be. ((((Said in Arnold Schwarzenegger voice)))) "It's NAHT a SI-LEHN-SOOR!!!"

Just remember you wont be arguing that point with me, it will be arguing that to prove you're not a criminal to 6 mothers who grew up anti gun.

I was curious about how many folks have air guns that don't have some sort of suppression system. I have a Benjamin Marauder and a Air force condor ss Both are pcp guns with shrouded barrels and are ok in the noise department for shooting in the yard but if you remove the shrouds they sound like a .22 long rifle.
