Well Guys looks like the Saltwater License is coming to NJ.. At my hunting club's meeting our federation rep. inform us that NJ is going to follow NY with a Saltwater fishing License.. Now they are trying to set the feee and will either have a combo license or separate license just for Saltwater license..

As soon as I hear more I post something.. I have already reached out to the division on this with a answer of "its in the Works""

Only thing I can say is [spy] it is PATHETIC BULL SH!T and will more then likely drive what's left of the sport saltwater fishing industry from charter Boats to Bait shops out of business [eyeroll]
AS IF THE PAST YEARS GAS PRICES AND NOW THE ECONOMIC SLIP DIDN'T HIT THE SPORT SALTWATER FISHING INDUSTRY HARD ENOUGH PILE MORE ON THERE BACKS [down][down]

i agree with a salt water fishing license. does this money go to the division?
So much for a "family" or "company" day charter trip [spy] highly doubt most people will be taking them if everyone would need to first stop off and buy a saltwater fishing license not to mention the guys that actually drive in from out of state for a nice day fishing trip [eyeroll] [down][down]

WHAT A SHOCK [eek] THAT TYPICAL GREED WILL SUPERSEDE NEED IN NEW JERSEY [down]

if they make me buy a lic. and check me , they better start checking captians tickets and bust them also .to many guys making a living off the industry and not paying there dues.I am sick of every jack off thinking they are a captian .what am I suposed to sell a one day pass to family that want to try to catch a keeper fluke one time a season .I spent thousands on gas boat and storage last year and now this ,I should just call myself capt. catfish and start charging people to catch fish .that is it who wants to pay me

I got check twice in July out of shark river for my ticket.. they check everything.. my concern is i didn't get a answer on how the head boats and charter boat are going to get hit with!! just remeber most everyone fishes in Ny water at some point so you need to get the NY license also..

That's too bad. I had been planning to buy a small boat to get back into fishing and share some fun times with my younger sons. Economy has been tough the last few years, job unstable, but there was always hope of buying a small 18-20 ft CC. With this proposed license and the tight and ever-increasing size restrictions on catch...it aint worth it!!

There is probably going to be a different license for the charter/party boat captains. Not everyone is going to have to buy a resident license. I agree with Drop Tine, this is going to push an industry to the brink of extinction, but the federal government is mandating it. If Jersey doesn't do it then the feds will come in and do it for us. I believe it needs to be in place by 2012.

I wish I got checked twice in a year and I'm serious about it! For the hard work and money honest Captains spent each year on License,Masters Upgrade, Slip Fees, TWIC Card, CPR & Safety Training then add in Charter Boat Insurance and Drug Testing hell I wish they would check me so my documents don't just sit in my cabin all year [wallmad]

I used to live in South Carolina and they always had saltwater license, but it was low enough not to bother anyone and you can buy shortime licenses also. I just got back from there I bought a 14 day license for $11. I don't think a saltwater license will price anyone out of the game. Florida also has saltwater license and shortterm licenses also so you can fish for a weekend.

I am pretty sure that every state south of NJ requires a salt water fishing license. I have fished with my kayak in Del, Va, NC, and SC and I had to get a non resident license in all of those states. Also I had to get the license for Alaska on my trip this past summer.

I guess we were lucky all of the past years, and if the monies are used for managing the fishing industry and helping with the research of the fish we are after,(which I doubt) maybe it will be a good thing.

The only way it will happen is if it comes from outside of fish and game. If it ends up in a pile of money the governer cannot touch he will not do it. But if he can pay for drug addicts to get clean needles you better be ready to pony up the cash

I have to agree with 11pt here,
If it was a nominal amount DEDICATED to the fisheries or cleaning the waters I too would be okay with it. Unfortunately it will NOT!!

PLEASE someone explain where ALL of my tax dollars go and what it is we get for our taxes?

Schools Property taxes
Roads Gas Tax
Hunting License fees
Garbage collection I pay a company

Ok so you get my drift, what is it we get for our GENERAL tax dollars? Seems to me we have specific FEES (taxes) for EVERYTHING!!!

General Income taxes and sales tax ???? POCKETS OF GOVERNMENT SCUM!!!!!!!!!!!

I already deal with it down here in Mississippi. Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana do it too. I don't know how NJ is going to do it, but down here charter boat patrons do not have to have a license, it is included with the price of the charter.

THIS IS BULLSHIT..Maximus only $30....on top of all the hunting permits, and licence fees im extorted out off already And only $30 more ,This state sucks!!!!!

I hear ya guys,I know the costs are crasy when it comes to hunting,I also agree that the state sucks.
If the lisence fees go somewhere besides our fisheries I'll be pissed too,but at this point does anyone know where this revenue will go. I'm for the lisence if it goes to our fisheries, against it if it goes to the general fund.
