Out since October. Been doing some minor consulting on the side in a start-up. Only positive thing was I got out for a total of 56 days in the 2008/2009 bird season. My friend claims I purposely planned it this way. He calls it a "planned hunting layoff.

We're in a race to the bottom outsourcing our economy to China and India
Ain't it da' truth.

I spoke with my buddy today over at Toys 'R Us. He gets up once a week now to engage in a conference call with India. To accomodate their time difference, he wakes up and starts the call at 2:30AM. His team has spent the last five years training their counterparts in Bangalore how to code and support their store systems as they downsize staff in NJ.

My question to either Mr. Corzine or Mr. Christie is: What is your plan to retain tech jobs in New Jersey when they are flying out the door?

I was told that I was one of 70...SEVENTY people that they actually interviewed for the job.
With all that are out of work, employers can be very picky in their selection. They can find the EXACT candidate they are looking for, right down to a person with an MBA from Wharton, with a mole on his chin who walks with a limp!

Right now those getting the few jobs available are the ones best able to differentiate themselves from the masses.
