I literally split a small deer's heart several yrs ago with a 12 ga slug at 50 yards with pass thru and it ran easy 100 in a large circle. I think it's all about how much adrenaline/stamina the deer has. Same shot with a bow at closer yardage on a similar deer (about the same damage) it did not know what happened and slow walked 20 yards feeding and passed out. Sounds like your ammo is fine just be aware of what you found out. That round that distance you need to follow up further. And 12 ga might not change that situation by much.

I think we all know the reason the deer went 140 yards before expiring was shot placement . The slug did its job ,I am sure if the shot was in both lungs or heart it would not have gone that far. I also like the shoulder shot with a 12 gauge . They usually drop but I have also been back or forward and had deer go 30 to 100 plus yards before they die . I use light fields because they shot good out of my browning . (don't have that gun anymore ) The reason I pick a certain slug is how accurate it is out of my gun ,not kinetic energy .I figure most 12 gauge slugs on market will do job with proper shot . (I use 12 not 20 ) My mistake I will have to do more research the next gun I set up.

electricstart..your 100% correct...it was shot placement.
Thanks to everyone asking questions and the fact that I still have the carcass, I rechecked and it was a pass thru![up]
I didn't notice when I cut here up, but it went clean thru.... btwn the 6th & 7th ribs.
Lesson learned...the gun and ammo performed as it should...and aim better.
Her tenderloins were delicious last night. [lol]

Exactly how I feel about these slugs.

This was taken from Bryce Towsley

"It's my opinion that this slug may flatten out too much by over-expanding and almost turning inside-out. This is relatively common with the short, large-diameter, lead-core, jacketed shotgun slugs, and the AccuTip is no exception. The problem is that as it grows too big in diameter it loses too much length. I would prefer to see a slug that expands a bit less and maintains some of its length for better straight-line penetration through flesh. Nonetheless, my hunting party and I killed several deer with the AccuTip.

Here is the whole article. Remington Premier AccuTip Sabot Slug - American Hunter

Rem AccuTip is a jacketed slug. The Win Partition is jacketed and partitioned to control expansion for deeper penetration. The first flattens out like a pancake and the second has more controlled expansion due to the partition. You decide which you want.
