We called in a good size bear on the first set tonight. I had to scare him away before he tried to eat my rabbit decoy. LOL Also appears that a coyote was coming into the setup too, but stopped about 100 yards away and then left (tracks in the snow). Maybe the bear detered him? There were other sets of fresh bear tracks that appeared to be coming to the call too.


Called in a yote on the second set that was howling and barking it's head off but never came close enough for a shot.


Nothing on the third set. Started snowing really hard and the roads were starting to get crappy, so we called it a night around 11:45.



TONS and I mean TONS of bear tracks. They were everywhere!

Works very well....

It flops everywhere and definitely draws attention.

The bear was going right for it. I basically had to yell at him and then start walking at him to get him to leave. He even paused and looked back at the decoy like....Damn...I want to eat that! LOL

Only downside is I have to keep tugging on the string to make it move. Need to make it motorized or something.


Also want to pick up a good coyote call so I can bark and howl back at them. Challenge them...

I use a NiteLite..Had it since my **** hunting days and it still works good. Also have a red lens that can be used and a hand held spot light that plugs in a jack. The battery is worn on a belt,,However I use a saftey harness instead..Works great !

how close do you like to call them in for the shot?

Between 30 and 50 yards is ideal. Too close and the pelt takes a beating..But that is never an issue unless they come from behind and run right past you at 10 yards (scares the crap out of ya !) Most of the time the shots are 40 to 60 yards.
Coyotes are hard to kill at 60.
