Thought this video was pretty informative.

Does anyone else use the same technique with the anus? That one was never taught to me when I was a youngin'.

I could not watch most of the video as I sit here at work. I will watch more of it when I get home tonight, but I personally don't do the first step they show. Maybe I will consider it.

good stuff! a gut hook knife makes the part where you cut the skin from the brisket to the anus much easier/quicker.

i've always cut the anus first. i usually pull the guts out before cutting open the diaphram. it's a little easier for me though the video probably is more correct.

That is GREAT STUFF [up] Thanks great post should help a lot of new and young hunters [up]

I cut the anus first then cut just under the ribs to open it up like he did. From there I use a gut hook 123 right down the center and open the deer right up I pul the guts out before I move through the diaphram just so I have more room to work. Then cut the diaphram open like he did and cut the trachea and your good to go. A deer takes me well under 3 minutes if all goes well and I am in a rush. Normally I am teaching youngings how to do it though so it goes a little slower.

Great video though very informative!

save your money. i bought one (butt out tool) last year and it sucked. the deer i used it on was a little doe and it was probably too big for her. it did the job but then it was something else i had to clean. i still wound up cutting around the anus anyway.

i learned the same exact thing from another video in the late 80's awesome cool vid[up]

I always cut around the milk sack and toss it and try not to spill any fluids on the hindquarters. I get out the stomach and intestines first also. Cool video, I'm sure its a great help for new hunters[up][up]. If its hot and you can cut through the brisket it helps to cool the deer.[up]
