Anyone ever try and make a block of corn and molasses for deer bait??

If you are hunting an area with bears it will be gone in one night.

The problem is getting it to retain the cube shape. Any ideas??
Ever make rock candy? I'm sure that if you used similar cooking techniques it would work

I've tried it all. Yes you can make rock hard molasses blocks but is not easy. Pure molasses is tough you need to add a few things to make it really solid, plus you'll need major heat, best outdoors, stovetop and your house will smell like MO for a week. Plus the mess.

My advice? Wait till winter months when its dead cold and freeze it. Then put it out.

Retaining a MO and mineral to a block? LOTS of pressure in a mold.

I have experimented as I have all this molasses to play with. I did suceed in making some great rock hard mo and corn licks. But it was not worth the trouble to make them to sell. Too much time involved, mess, crazy bees! (And I'm alergic to death!)

I thought it would be easy. Ask anybody who knows me, I am both a devout entreprenuer, (No work so little choice!) and a total mad scientist when it comes to trying to develop and test new products of all kinds and every kind. I have several ready to market if I had the dough. I should just start a consultant biz for new products.

But if you really want to do it you can. I find it great fun even if I only make it for myself.

Feel free to PM me.

Pure molasses ones don't hold up well you need to cook and mix other ingrediants.

I have been experimenting with them the last few months just need some in field proof from digi cams to prove they work.

I've been making them for myself for awhile but now otherd want me to sell them.

Not sure what size your looking for but I normally make 5lb blocks. Shoot me a PM I can custum make you some. And of course I use only the best MO for some super smelling stuff!
