Guys,

I went to fill up at the pump and handed Mohammad "Real Name Tag." I did not notice that it was 10 cents more per Gallon to use a Credit Card! I read the receipt and I almost LOST IT! Oh, and not every gas station is doing it!

I didnt realize that gas stations were still charging different prices for gas based on cash/debit/credit. Credit card companies charge x% up front on every purchase. Dollars the merchants have to eat for the privilage of taking the credit cards to sell their goods. Thats why they take on a nickel or dime a gallon if you used credit.

If you ever wondered why they ask 'credit or debit' when you use your MAC card anywhere despite the fact the money comes out of your bank account no matter what, thats why. The fees.

I own a small business and if you ever want to help any of us out pay with cash or never use AMEX they kill us with processing fees.... I mean up to ten percent....you try losing ten percent of your income it gets really hard
You knew it when you signed up to except credit cards ! That is a line of crap [down] If you think it's not fear then don't except credit cards point blank [confused] Maybe they should charge a little extra on delivery days as well to help off set the delivery charge and pump down time.

Pretty strange how no one else charges credit card fees except the gas industry [down] [confusedagain]

and also if you dont allow people to use credit cards your business will probably shut down ...plastic is used probably more than cash now a days

Many businesses use the processing fees as part of the cost of the product they sell. Therefore you are paying for those fees whether you know it or not
and because the credit card processing fees those businesses pay are factored into the cost of goods being sold, they are passed on to the consumer whether you're paying cash or credit... so in reality the gas station is actually giving the customer paying cash a break because the cost of gas is not being marked up to cover the credit card fees unless the customer is actually paying credit.

The place by my work in Robbinsville NJ does that. Garden State Gas. Their prices are still about 30 cents a gallon cheaper than what I pay by my house in Newtown PA. 4.19 a gallon for regular. You know it's bad when the car companies are offering free gas for a year. 10 years ago that would have been only a 500 dollar benefit over the course of a year. Now it's thousands.

Only thing we do different for CC sales is make it nothing under $10.00. You must buy at least $10 to use a CC.

We have to pay a % on all CC sales to the company. If someone wants to charge a % or more money if someone uses a CC they have every right to do so. It is the shopper that has the choice the use cash or CC not the other way around.
