Bought a zone 8 doe tag for Six day firearm, so I could take a doe if I wanted. Didn't take anything, only hunted Saturday. Bought my 2014 license today and was told I couldn't buy a buck tag. What is the reason for this. Are they worried about guys buying buck tags only after taking a buck? With no check stations won't those guys just do it anyway. Really wished I had paid more attention, but damn this makes no sense. Now I'm screwed if a decent buck shows himself.

you were allowed to do that because it was prior to the permit season starting. The buck permit for shotgun that is. I don't no how this thread spiraled into extended bow. Lol

This is why you dont ask game law questions on here. If you dont understand the language in the book then call the F&W. To many stupid ass people on here have no idea what they are talking about. This is copied out of the book, if you cant figure it out then call the F&W.
IMPORTANT: Antlered Buck Permits must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. on the following dates: Oct. 26 for Permit Bow; Dec. 2 for Permit Muzzleloader and Dec. 18 for Permit Shotgun seasons, UNLESS you are buying your first zone-specific antlerless permit AND an Antlered Buck Permit at the same time after these dates.

You cannot buy a buck tag for your shotgun permit after the 6 day firearm season. Obviously they want you to hedge your bet that you won;t score during 6 day and want the ability to shoot a buck afterwards. No one would buy the tag in advance if they could wait and see how they make out during 6 day. I did not buy a buck tag with my shotgun permit but did buy one with my M/L permit. I hunt two different zones. Enough is enough. I shot 5 bucks this past year and that's enough.

I completely agree with you Not only do they get you for permit seasons by zone they also hit you up for that stupid buck tag garbage what other states do this ? I paid $170 this year just to hunt as a resident tell me where else they rob you like that !!! Only in New Jersey ughh

You can buy your buck tag after you buy your zone permit up until that permit season begins. You can buy a buck permit after the season begins as long as you have not purchased a zone permit.

Alot of them you can hunt into or until the end of January so what are you trying to say exactly ? We should just bend over and take it because we get a few more weeks.
