Unfortunetly not usually. Farmers rarely have a.gun on them. And usually the closest gun is a long way off.usually the animal dies due to injuries. Also many farmers can care less. These are the same guys shooting hundreds of deer a year with there depervation permits only to pile them.up.in the back.of some field anyway. Its no different then getting blasted by a car and running off to die from.its injuries.

It sucks that these animals have to die like this. But this is the price you pay for modern life. There are hundreds of millons of gofers, rats, mice, rabbits that are torn apart during tilling, planting and harvesting of crop fields. It is simply unavoidable unfortunaly.

Most farmers I know consider the deer to be vermin. A deer in the combine is only an inconvenience as they have to get out of the machine and remove the dollar muncher.

I was on a trespass fee hunt one time where the farmer wanted me to shoot some doe. I told him after I shoot a buck I might. He got mad and asked,
"What do you mean you might?" He went on a long whine about the deer and the damage they do.
"You should be paying me a bounty for every doe I shoot if I decide to shoot any," was my reply.
I told him I was there for a big buck at a big dollar and he sounded like NJ making me pay a premium to take care of HIS problem. He stomped out of the room.

The next day, after thinking about our conversation and wanting to get back to this farm in the future, I had an opportunity to shoot a doe right at dark. He was happier than a pig in a garbage dump when I came back with that doe in my truck. So happy he gave me an extra day of hunting. I guess he thought about it some, too. Of course, he told me to shoot another one if I had the chance.

I know people that lease land from farmers and in return he wants them to.kill every doe on the farm. If they dont obligethere lease is in jeopardy.

They are prey animals and they know the sound of danger. In the woods it is a twig snap and then they see a blob of brown with 2 legs, moving. On the farm they see and hear tractors and 98% of the time nothing happens. That's why they don't run from tractors / combines.
