Well 2 days ago i go to go across the street where i have a stand for 3 years and only really hunted twice with sucsess. i put some bait out 2 days before and as i am wlking to it isee my lddder kind of hanging. So I think WTF?i know it was windiny this week but not that windy. i get up to it just the top extenson and the platform are still there!!!! all of my bait was kicked in the water and the stabilizer and all straps and 2 extensions were gone. WTF? 3 years here with no probs. Im going through a neighbors house and they are really cool. im ony about 75yds from there yard. im really pissed. I hope they get AIDS and die. I think it is really shitty to take someone elses stuff. Thank god i had the top locked but wtf? now I am scred to put another stand back up. this was my winter bow spot, and its across the street from my house. I was thinking of putting something back up with a camera up by it high in a tree facing down to see if i can see who it is? Well it sucks either way. just venting!!! I do hope they die!![mad]

Sorry for your loss. If it's across the street than why didn't you use a climber and keep your spot a secret? Not like you have to hike it in a half mile or more like the rest of us. Hope you learned from this. You can't trust anyone, anywhere, anytime.
I've had the same problem in the past. I locked the stand up good but then they vandalize whatever they cannot steal. Took my ratchet straps, drop line and anything not attached. I thought anti a-holes but it was another hunter. A 17 or 18 year old who got caught by the CO's this past fall. Anyway, whether it is anti tree huggers, kids or other hunters, they are all scumbag a-holes.
go back and look around for your larrer parts. most antis dont have the guts to walk out with your . id look around about 199 yrs around from where you were set. they most likely threw it in a crick or covered it up with branches and leaves. a camera up high would show whos messing with it.good luck, mike
Well,Jersey hunter. i really didnt think i had to? this is a perfect little spot. But what it is is that i put out about 65lbs of carrots. and they are like blaze orange, so i think that is what brought it so much attention. plus the trees over there are not the best for clinbers but i will have to do that from now on. i like just going in and being quiet, but who doesnt? well i was just venting. thanks for the responses. Put a camera up in a tree where it will not be easily taken. Get pictures of the vandals and prosecute.
I thought the same thing. Schools were all off the last week and kids with nothing better to do probably. Likely vandalism more than anything else.
Go back and put the stand back up exactly where it was and then post a big bright sign on the tree saying that this area is being watched. Anyone found trespassing will be prosecuted.
Sorry to hear Joey. Probably thieving jerkoff local kids like the POS that kept taking our shit til we had him arrested last summer. Same M.O., if he couldn't break the lock and chain to steal the stand, he would remove the rest of the retaining bolts as well as take the stabilizer bar and all the straps and mess up the bait. Rebuild it like it was and put up a trail cam to catch them on film. PM the exact location as well and I'll ask around who are the known scumbags in the area.

On another note. If you leave something in the woods that is not on your property is it actually steeling? Or if it gets damaged what exactly would the person get charged with assuming they were not tresspassing? Seems like in court you could beat this.. Just a question.. Waiting to get bashed.
