A New Jersey appeals court ruled Wednesday that merely being accused of domestic violence is enough to deny someone permission to obtain a gun and keep it at home. Judges John Kennedy, Amy O'Connor and Jose Fuentes denied the application of a man identified in court papers as Z.L., who wanted to keep a gun in his home. The court upheld a decision by the Aberdeen chief of police and the Monmouth County Superior Court to reject Z.L.'s application. Z.L. had been accused of domestic violence in 1998 but later acquitted, although police later visited his home five times between 2003 and 2011 on domestic dispute calls. "The presence of a firearm in such a household enhances the potential for such a reaction to become lethal," Kennedy said. "I am unaware of any other state where someone who has been acquitted can still be denied their constitutional right to purchase a handgun and keep it in their home," said Evan Nappen, Z.L.'s attorney. The case is In Re Appeal of the Denial of the Application for Z.L., App. Div. 2015, and has been approved for publication. Thus it is now binding on lower courts in New Jersey.

let me just say I have been there and it sucks they came and took my guns bows and even a starter pistol I had for dog training ..went to court three times like 4 months each time the case was never hear then the fourth time the prosecutor call me to his office and said he was sorry for any inconvenience and that all charges were dropped and gave me a receipt to pick up my guns ...OH this was not a husband wife thing either.. I let someone who needed a place to stay stay at my house a while like 3 months well he used my address at moterveicals with out me knowing ...then I cam home one day from work to do my banking and was missing 2k out of my cash box and I knew he took it so I grabbed him and he admitted to taking it but called the cops and said I choked him out and said if I did not get my money back that I would kill him ..so when the cops showed up they charged me with threats assault and domestic violence cause he had my address on his license

You would think so but how much you wanna bet that it sets precedence in any case where there is even 1 unproven accusation? We all heard how they came for my neighbor & i said nothing, they came for my brother & i said nothing & when they came for me, there was no one left to say anything....
this guy showed terrible judgment, if less @ssholes had guns then maybe they would stpp embarrasing the human race with their actions and racist forums posts. this guys doesnt deserve a firearm.

Or his hammers, ropes, hands etc, etc. There maybe more to the story. But he can go to many other states and purchase without issue, or do like the criminals do get an illegal one. Ask those boys from duke lacross about false allegations

Or the uva frat in the Rolling Stone article. They were thrown out of their home because of 1 lying bitch! I read that article & immediately thought her story didnt ring true. I hope they sue the crap out of uva & the accuser! I know what its like cause i heen thrre too. If it ever happened to you, you would feel different about it when you see you have zero rights in the rush to judgement & you know its a lie. I will never feel quite the same about my country after my minor brush with the system& justice when someone, especially a woman falsly accuses.
