Oh yea I cant see alot of pictures here at work for some reason.. yea that was a brutal....
Ya know what , all those guys kept saying reel, reel , reel.. dont take any breaks ect...Why?? I know they said "you rest, the fish rests" But why did they give you the impression that you absolutly HAD to get the fish up as quickly as possible?? What would have been so bad in playing/ fighting the fish.. so it may have taken aliitle longer but who cares and maybe we could have landed a few fish that we actually started off with...

Well, when they said that you should reel the fish in and not stop...they are correct. There are a few reasons.

1) It's not about giving the fish a rest, its more about allowing the fish to turn its head back away from you and regain the leverage to take out all of the line you just gained on it. You don't stop reeling because you are wasting energy by doing so (even though you are taking a break, ultimately you are spending far more trying to land the fish). Certainly sometimes when they start running, all you can do is hold on until you can regain control. Plus with the setups we were using, you were reeling against the drag many times and not gaining anything...when that's the case, either you have a giant fish on or the drag is set too light.

2) The quality of the meat. The longer you fight them, the more their blood pumps through the muscle tissue and the worse the meat gets. The greener you get them in, the better (for the quality of the meat).

But that wasn't the issue I saw with your long fights. The picture I posted was one where you fought through umpteen tangles on one fish. You have no choice to stop and let them untangle or cut the other lines. WHen you do that, the fish turns and rips out more line. You can into at least 4 or 5 tangles, all of which except the last, the mate refused to cut...he spent like 5 minutes per tangle trying to get them out and finally said he was doing YOU a favor by cutting the last one...by which time you were absolutely spent and drenched in sweat. That was a rough fight dude!

Yea plus I had that fish up and they missed the gaf.. twice..Ok I see the reasoning now for landing the fish quickly and if i remeber correctly you explained that to me when we were on the boat..

scubby i saw the pic, i think you were thinking some thing else[rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl] went up there to l,v was there for three hours got out at three trirty had to go some where did not see anything or any signs so go fishing and stop looking at the mates butt[rofl][rofl][rofl][rofl]

I remember this day...I think you were ready to throw the mate overboard...
I have to ask ,what are you looking at ,please tell me it is not the as*

He's probably looking past Rich out at the ocean and where the fish is down below...thinking, "I wanna drown that F'in mate". Total disappointment. That's my guess. I think he was too tired to be thinking about getting it on with Rich...but I could be wrong! [hihi]
