If you look at those 2 netting videos and use a stop watch to time the deer squirming BEFORE the guy with the stun gun shows up, and then compare it to a hunting video (Realtree, Primos, whatever) I bet the deer die WAY faster and more humanely with hunting!

What sickens me the most is they use tax payers money to fund this crap when us hunters pay the state to hunt these deer. Let me get this straight they are getting paid to thin the deer heard that us hunters managed into the heard it is today by purchasing licenses and land and these sick scavanger A Holes come into these towns and get PAID to kill Deer in the most in humane way possible and the Anti's are not standing there with there freaking signs?? I bet it is the Anti's that are doing the killing that is why they don't want us hunters around cause we thin the hurd and cost them money. Man I am Pissed Off!!!!! Net the Deer and drive a bolt through there head and get paid for it WTF..!!!! The town administration in Millburn can BITE ME..!!!! Sick Basturds!!! Sorry Kris it struck a Nerve![mad][mad][down]

Ian, How did you make out? Ask to speak to the Borough Clerk and tell her Mike from Midland Park is a friend of yours. She should remember me. She used to be the Borough Clerk in Midland Park before she went there. She was talking about a hunt there years ago, but nothing happened. I guess we know now.
Ian to answer your previous question. I believe the meat goes to homeless shelters.

Holy smokes that's messed up. Our hard earned taxpayer $$$s are being used to pay someone to kill deer. It's no wonder why this state has one of the highest tax rates in the country.

I am gonna get in contact with someone at millburn and see if I cant get a hunt instead of this !!!
Ian... tell them you have at least 12 guys ready to bow hunt it... for winter bow!
There are precedents in New jersey for private hunting organizations being given authority to conduct controlled huntin as an alternative to netting and bolting. Bernards Township, including Basking Ridge, used to hire professional killers to cull their dear herds. They now utilize a very rigourously controlled private hunting group (sorry guys, there's a 10-year waiting list to join) to do the work. It saves the township nearly $100,000 per year and this seems to be the magic ticket. Also, the Duke Estate in Hillsborough brought in the UBNJ and gave them exclusive access to hunt the property. We should seriously consider contacting some of the Deer Management Program representatives in some of the deer-dense areas and opening a dialogue about similar alternatives. Could be a win-win for all of us.
