ALERT: Fundraiser to support campaign to stop Net & Bolt in Millburn Township, New Jersey!
As some of you probably already know, on November 29th, Millburn's township committee voted for net & bolt! In the five years of community based deer management, this is the first year Millburn elected to descend to net & bolt to remove pockets of deer on private property.
Last spring, the last HotShot Aerial Survey showed only 62 deer living in Millburn. Spread out over the 7 miles of township, and 10 including lands in the reservation, this still equates to much lower than.
But now McNet and her pro-kill cronies find the deer more bothersome
. This is a select group of pro-kill residents who do not want to fence their properties.
HALT, Inc. will not accept this without a huge fight.
We have many plans, some quite expensive, including:
- 200 copies of the DVD that shows graphic video of net & bolt of deer, plus close up of a pig and horse being bolted. These will be distributed to the residents that requested Net & bolt on their property and all the neighbors on the other streets.
- a full page ad in The Item, with professional testimonies AGAINST net & bolt
- repeated weekly reminder ads in The Item to drill the message home
This will be an expensive campaign. We are asking for tax deductible
donations to HALT, Inc. to help us with this endeavor.
Please support this campaign as much as you are able.
Make checks payable to

A little secret, if they want to thin the herd, they need to let us hunt South Mountain Reservation, because this is where all the deer are coming from!

... thenet-and-bolt method of deer capture involves baiting an area with corn and shooting a large net over the animals. The net is propelled by gunpowder-like charges.

One worker then holds down a deer's hindquarters, another hold the head, and a third shoots a 3-inch metal bolt into the animals' skull. When aimed properly, this should cause immediate death...
