If you drive through the Lincoln tunnel, they allow open carry of long guns and you can shoot whatever you want. It's way better there for what you wanna do. I would leave know to beat the holiday traffic.
Isn't NY just as bad or worst than NJ? Anyways I'm in college so can't leave yet but if I can get a job after I graduate in PA or maybe the south I think I'd leave. Jersey just isn't US friendly.

The DDI AK is great!! I own one and love it, it comes zeroed to 30 yards, is pretty accurate-no tack driver-but gets the job done, pretty good trigger (surprisingly good for an AK at least), and it breaks down and cleans easily. That being said, you should REALLY look into the laws a LOT more, as previously states almost everything you mentioned was illegal. If you're not into hunting, this is the wrong website for you. You don't need a truck to hunt either. A truck is very convenient, but I drive a Mustang and make it work. If you really want to own a firearm, talk to someone at a local gun shop. That's where I learned most of the laws and asked questions, even better if you find one with Police Officers working in it, as they know what other police officers will look for.

Update: You can shoot at a wildlife Management Areas but only shotguns, air rifles, and .22 rilfes that could be used to hunt. No center-fire rifles and handguns. They only allow certain types of ammo mostly lead-free and it can be not steel cased. The lady said everything is on the website. I will still do to shoot a shotgun and maybe get into a little bit of hunting.
Also targets can not be on the ground so a frame of some kind is needed.

The NRA can give you much more accurate and trustworthy information than a bunch of anonymous guys on a hunting forum. Anyone that trusts obtaining legal information regarding firearms laws to a bunch of guys on an Internet chat forum probably shouldn't own a gun.

What if I shoot in NY? It is a big no no to bring NJ legal stuff like 15 round mags to NY?
I would read the provisions of New York's SAFE Act first before venturing over the border with "NJ legal stuff":

And only on the WMA ranges, and you NEED a valid hunting license.
