Dan, I was able to sneak up behind that stump and get the picture you needed to judge his size. He wasnt that big, maybe 250#'s and friendly as can be. You can see me petting him in this pic!

Can anyone make the pic bigger?

During the bear season two years ago a guy pulled into the check in station with a monster like that one. It was 477#'s dressed out and I think this one is bigger. Better go to Dunkin Donuts and ask the people there for their stale donuts. That stuff works great! During last winter little lou and I had a bunch of monster bears living on our bait piles, all with donuts. Great pix!! [up][up][up]

If that picture was taken in April then that bear is bigger now...The Outfitter I use for bear hunts in New Brunswick Canada always told me a black bear adds on Averege 100lbs. if not more for the winter[up]

That picture was just taken recently, not in April.

I'm friends with the guy who shot the 2nd biggest bear in Jersey two years ago, it weighed 570 lbs dressed. I didn't see it first hand, just pics, but if what Flipper243 says is true, that means that bear is well over 700 lbs.

A club I was in had that property until it was sold by Blair Academy. The club president helped set up the new deer management plan and we had the possibility of getting the property back, but we lost out to UBNJ. I was told that it is deer hunting ONLY on the property. No bear or turkey. In my opinion that property has more of a bear problem than deer problem. One time myself and two other club members saw 14, yes 14 different bears by lunchtime on that property. I saw more bears that year than deer. My buddy was sitting against a tree in full camo (just finished a cigarette) when a bear about 450lb came about 30ft from him and started growling and pawing the ground. It must have smelt the smoke but couldn't see him.Ever since than I carried mace while hunting that property.

I emailed the pictures of this bear to the Outfitter I use in Canada, he told me that this bear is on a low end 700 lbs., but most likey 750 lbs. to 775 lbs. thats huge !!!!!

Now lets say you see this bear at 50yds or 75yds., what type of damage would you think 1 slug would do to this bear?, being that this bear is huge, thick and has lots of muscle, big bones, and lots of fat, something to think about

If deer hunting with a slug gun and I ran across him, I wouldn't worry. A 12 ga. slug gun is more than ample even for him. Break the front shoulder and then a second if need be. Then 1 in the boiler.

Many a grizzly that size and larger have been knocked down with a 12 ga slug. Even before the new modern high performance slugs we have today.

I think about him too Kris....

Woods as dark black as the ace of spades, a 750# bear, and a bow and arrow, dont make me think happy thoughts!
