First sit in a new spot that had heavy deer traffic on the ground and I smoked this doe at 18yds. After climbing down to check my arrow I find the blades on my grim reaper broken off. At first I thought it was the ground impact from the close shot. Once finally finding the doe about 100 yards away and dressing her, I noticed it was a double lunger. Weird thing was that the exit wound was the size of a field tip. The broadhead went in quartering away at a good angle and coming out it blew threw the opposite shoulder breaking the blades. Figured what the hell, and called Grim Reaper leaving a message. Next morning I received a phone call from a rep and he was very helpful and curious b/c he had seen this maybe 2 or 3 times in his 7 years with the company. Anyway all he wanted was a pic to send to his manufacturer and an address to send me replacements ASAP. Said it could have been over heated in the heat treatment process. Great company and great broadhead bc it gets the job done.

My butcher would be pissed.. and so would I if I bit into a remaining piece. Not good.

I decided to try the grim reapers this year and shot a deer, the body bent and I broke a blade off also. I emailed them about it, they replied quickly and asked for pictures. I sent them a few and got a polite apology as well as a "warrantied" new pack. Good company in my book so far.

Shot my buck last year with a grim reaper and will never use them again. The head didn't open and barely left a blood trail. Luckily I still found the bruiser. I won't be leaving Muzzy again.

Congrats on the doe!
I've seen people say this on archerytalk before too. and the consensus was that it's impossible for a head designed like the reaper to not open. just look at the design. I think people don't realize that the heads will be closed once they pass through whatever target they hit and they assume that the head didn't open. if your head truly didn't open, i'm sure reaper would love to hear about it and see the pics of the entrance and exit wounds

I agree 100%. I've found mine on the ground after a pass thru with extraordinary entrance and exit wounds.

I used them for oneyear then switched to the Grim Reaper HADES (fixed blade version) and still use them today. I just wasn't impressed with the entry hole on them. If you get a pass through the blood trail is incredible but if you hit the opposite shoulder all you have to go on is the entry hole and there wasn't much as the blades were not yet fully opened. But as they say I did watch it drop so no trailing was needed. Congrats on the doe!

yeah. I've used them for the past couple years and they open up insane entrance and exit wounds. the doe I shot last week went 40 yards and dropped. it looked like someone took a ladle and just sloshed and dumped blood everywhere. if a head ever truly didn't open, I bet the company would love to know about it

Grim Reaper is the only mech head ill use. I've shot over a dozen deer with them and never lost one. Usually watch them drop. Never had that sucess with any other heads before. I did have one tip break off and one broken blade but both shots were thru the shoulder, pretty much any head would have done the same. Congrats on the doe and thumbs up for grim reaper standing behind their product.

I like the Grim Reapers. Started using them 2 years ago and am 3 for 4 with them.
Great blood trails. The one deer I lost was my fault, made a bad shot.
