For those who believe that the "wild" herd has reached a point where it is "thin" do you think residential deer will move back into wild areas and fill the capacity that has opened up?

No. It's been proven. I'll try to find the study.

This was by far the worst season for me in years. Deer I've seen have been few and far between. I think, as most of us here do, way too many antlerless are being taken and there should be limits. Besides less deer in the woods, fewer does produce fewer bucks for the years to come.

I stopped hunting the Jan/Feb shotgun/muzzleloader seasons about 5 years ago when I walked around Paulinskill for 45 minutes before I saw a deer track in the snow...Thanks Earn-a-Buck program.

These inilation zones also interfere with goose hunting. Paulinskil is a good goose area, but I won't lay out in the middle of a field with camo on when there are buckshot & slugs flying around. Not to mention that I could not call in any geese when there is someone wearing orange nearby.

MAkes you wonder what will be left for our kids and grandkids. Since the state moves too slowly in making the adjustments that are needed to secure the future it is incumbent upon each of us to do the responsible thing each time we head off to the woods. Conservation and management needs to be practiced at the gr [no swearing please] roots level.

I think the state should stop doe days(guns) at 1st week of January, mostly because lots of guys shoot bucks with shed antlers by accident. Winter bow till the end of January is fine. I hunt Fredon and Stillwater (zone 5) and saw very little action this year. This was the worst year ever for those spots. I have basically put the guns away for this season and am just going to hunt with the bow at my "residential spots" that are loaded with deer. The state also extended the kill permits for farmers which does'nt help at all. The more wild areas are definately getting thinned out and the residential areas are thriving. The state needs to try and implement different programs for these areas.

what u expect some zones go to first week of february. dont get me wrong no body likes deer meat more then me but come on how many deer does a hunter need for his family ? my best year ever was five deer and a felt kinda guilty.

I think the state should manage the WMA's diffrently in Zones with high bag limits. You have private land all around with high deer numbers and low hunter numbers with liberal bag limits. Then you have the WMA's in the same zones with high hunter numbers and the same bag limits. Its a no brainer that the deer numbers will be heavily reduced in these areas

I saw a deer in zone 5. A what? a deer.. A bear?? no a deer? a queer? no a deer... Yeah right your lying hah ahaha
