Took a ride thru GARRET MOUNTAIN, just outside of PATERSON, just off RT. 80 with my friend. We saw 12 plus deer, all of good size, one was a buck he still had a half side antler a long spike. Man wish this park was open to hunting at least with the bow, 10 minutes from my house.

new to the forum but cant beleve i found it i have been driving thru rifle camp park every morning on my way home from work. i have seem many good bucks there and plenty of fat does. i have seen other hunter types driving thru there also probablly some of you guys! i drive a silver xtera. a very big bodied buck was killed by a car about a block south of the park entrance in mid november.both horns were broke off but i think he was a big wide 8 i had seen many times. good luck & good night.

to the shed hunters in riflecamp park i saw six bucks this morning all still carrying their antlers, one big wide six 4+2 an ok 8 and the rest were small! also there was a small deer trying to mount a doe for a while, strange to see. the large 8 that i saw a bunch early in the year is gone i think he was hit by a car. good luck

I drove through Rifle Camp & Garret Mountain today about 5pm. I am amazed at the amount of deer I saw in both places.
I used to go there when I was a teenager in the 60's and never saw a deer. I used to run there in the '70's & '80's and never saw a deer. I also used to bring my sons there in the '80's when they were little. Occasionally we would find deer droppings or tracks. Once we found a rub. The deer population there has absoutly exploded in the last 10-15 years. I think Passaic County Sheriff's department must have been culling them then stopped in the early '90's. That's the only guess I have as to the population explosion.
I would gladly volunteer to live trap them and move them to zone 4 or zone 3 before they starve to death.

I know where Garret Mountain is where is Rifle Camp. Also are we talking about the same place? Garret is a drive through park in Paterson...Some big gr [no swearing please] areas, a small lake, lot of car and loud music.

Rifle Camp park is on Rifle camp Road just past the W. Paterson firehouse, take a walk back by the resivior to look for sheds thats where alot of deer bed, I go to that park alot preseaon to follow growth

I went there tonight took a ride through Rifle Camp Park and saw 40+ deer I took alot of pics but I'm having probl;ems posting them, they disappeared as I was uploading them
