I picked up an older Marlin .22 single-shot bolt action this weekend, for use as a dispatch gun on the trap line ...

The rifle is stamped on the top of the barrel "Marlin Crown Prince" under a caricature of a royal crown. It is a single shot with a cocking ring on the rear of the bolt (similar to KSA's Cricket & Chipmunk rifles). Rifle appears to be all original & is in quite good condition, with no visible rust or missing part(s).

Now the really good news ...

After researching the rifle a bit, I discovered that this rifle is actually a special edition of the Marlin model 101 that was made for only 1 year (1959). Production was reportedly limited to 7,166 units. The rifle originally came in a special box that doubled as a carrying case, along with a Marlin rimfire scope & accessory package. While I don't have any of these "extras", the rifle is very light & handy ... just what I was looking for.

The rifle was marked $99.00 on Cabelas' used gun rack in Hamburg, PA. After using my Cabelas Club points on my card, I walked out of the store with the rifle for FREE.

So, whatcha think about my "find"? ...

Well as for the deal. It probably cost you about 10k in order to accumulate those 100pts on your cabelas card so take that for what its worth.

As for the gun. Sounds like a cool one that will be a nice addition to tg he collection. Good luck with it.

10K I would've spent anyway. At least I got something to show for it by putting it on the card. :happy0159:

I have the same rifle. Even though they were only made for a short time they do not seem to hold a lot of value. Depending on condition they run $100-$200. Still a great gun and hard to beat for the price you paid. You are lucky to any gun for around $100 these days.

I bought mine from a friend for $10 about 50 years ago. It's seen the most action of any gun I have ever owned (and I've owned a lot). My eyes aren't good enough for iron sight's anymore. I just now sitting here, took off the cheapie scope, and am putting on a nice 1.5-5x20mm. This rifle will be with me till I die:) You found a very good rifle. Take care of her:)
