Well this morning I decide to hunt state land that usually holds a couple nice deer. I got in my stand and as it got it light I see a mass of deer about a hundred yards away feeding under a white oak tree. As it gets lighter I am able to start making out horns with my binoculars. I count 5 bucks with the biggest being this stud and 3 does. I watch the deer walk up towards me and turn about 60 yards away and walk a big cirle around me except for the big buck. I could not figure out where he was. 15 minutes went by and he showed up on the same trail but walked towards me in the brush and the closest he got was 50 yards offering me no shot. So I made up my mind that I was going to take my climber and climb the white oak tree in the afternoon that I saw them feeding under in the morning. Well I got in the stand at 3:30 pm and settled in and shortly had the three does feeding on acorns around me. After the does left I sat for 2 hours without any sign of a deer. At 7:00 pm the big boy stepped out under the tree I hunted in the morning and made a scrape. Talk about wanting to cry. Would have been a 10 yard shot. Instead the big buck walked out and started walking away from me down the hill. I ranged him at 46 yards and thought it was now or never. As the big buck fed on acorns I drew my Mathews Monster and settled my 50 yard pin on the deers chest and squeezed the trigger. I watched my arrow bury in the twelve ring. The buck ran twenty yards and fell, got up stumbled ten more yards and collapsed. Tentative weight of the deer is around the 200 lb weight. I will get better pics and the official weight in the morning. I am stoked to say the least. Great Hunt.
