I was able to connect on this 8 saturday afternoon. After the debacle of monday morning of pulling the shot on a different buck and winging it with no luck on finding it after an exhaustive search. on saturday was sitting in a little nest I built that built in a hedgerow after several occasions of seeing deer out of range while sitting in a tree. This nest can only be hunted during an east wind and we got one on saturday. About 445 had about 13 deer come thru the hedgerow and into the field. Unfortunately the were just out of range at 150 yds. That has been the story this season. So I was watching these deer hoping they would work their way to me 30 or 40 yds so I could get a shot, when I looked to my left and see the outline of aa deer about 29 yds away standing on the edge of the field. It turned and I saw a short nose and thought it was a button or small doe. Well it turned and sarted walking right to me down the field edge. I tried to put the scope on it and it was too close. I then saw it was a buck. It proceeded to walk directly in front of the nest. As it did I stuck the gun barrel out of the nest and pulled the trigger. He went right down. As he hit the grounf I saw it was a nice 8 point, ans as his head hit the ground his left antler popped off at the pedicle. I must say this was one of the most exciting hunts I have ever had, and by far the closest I have ever shot a deer. He was killed at less than 3 feet. Anyway a good buck down, and alot of fun and frustration during buck week.
