Hi guys -- Is this good deer ground? I am most interested in hunting Zone 1 this year, but have been hearing 50/50 that the zone is either too beat up or really good if you go deep enough off the trails. I am particularly interested in Bear Swamp WMA. Anyone here have any advice or experience in this zone?

I live and hunt in zone 1, A good chuck of it is private. It's true coyote, bobcat and bears are thick but I have no problem seeing deer..

Part of bear swamp used to be zone 5, it was changed to 1 due to the slaughtering of the deer, BUT I hunt bear swamp off of 206 an there's plenty of deer an bear in there.

I wasn't aware that part of bear swamp was zone 1 now. Off 206 ? Is that the small parking ares near jumbo land ? I hunt private land but when I do hunt public I stay away from the unlimited doe zones. I remember years ago I hunted trout brook wma. The deer hunting was great after unlimited doe it was void of deer, a shame.

these reviews must be coming from guys parking, walking 100 yards from the road and not seeing anything. If you get into the walpack and WALK in and get into some thick stuff there are giants in there. Most people don't want to put the effort in.

these reviews must be coming from guys parking, walking 100 yards from the road and not seeing anything. If you get into the walpack and WALK in and get into some thick stuff there are giants in there. Most people don't want to put the effort in.
