The story behind killing my biggest buck ever starts off with heartbreak! Brian and I got in the stand one morning to have the biggest buck of my life come in and give me a perfect broadside shot at 20 yards...I guess the massive 130" 8 point had me so crazy that I forgot to look through my peep and shot right over the back as I almost cried in disgust!
Well as fate would have it I went out a few short days later to shoot this amazing 11 point below. I watched this bad boy come in dogging a doe and grunting away as he had no idea he was going to meet my Grim Reaper tipped arrow. I drew on him at 15 yards but the slightly quarting toward me shot made me uncomfortable so I opted to wait...15 minutes later after shredding a tree he went into some thick brush as I thought it was all over...I knew the spot he was in was only 20 yards and the open hole was about 25-28...I told myself if he came in that hole he was mine. A few minutes later as I stared into the hole he came out to sniff the doe and gave me a slightly quartering away shot as I slammed it to him!!!
This is my second buck with a bow and my biggest buck ever of any species I have taken (Mulies, Blacktail and Whitetail). He rough taped at 128" with 24" main beams...he is a mainframe 8 but had a few kickers on his G2s that made him an 11 point NJ Beast!!!
