I am hearing of alot of dead deer being found in Sussex County - Well over 50. A bunch found in South Jersey in Gloucester and Salem County. The buck I was planning on hunting in Warren County was found dead in a pond along with a 6 point last week with no holes or signs of fighting on them. Everyone is claiming EHD and just curious as to what you are seeing and hearing. I was bear hunting on the edge of a swamp in October in Warren County and I have never been attacked by gnats or No See Ums the way I was this year. My wrists swelled up so bad from being bit so many times I had to get a cortizone shot.

I would say there is a very good chance they know and are looking into it and are waiting until they have a better idea of what they are dealing with before they start making assumptions and claims not backed up by facts. Just keep reporting them if you find them, best way to help.

don't listen to what people say.....listen to the biologist.

i remeber talking to a biologist years back. lazy attitiude if you ask me. they tell me in a area that was hit bad not to worry it it will bounce back. how about closing down or limiting the numbers in those areas affected. i wonder how many biuologists are employed and what they do exactly. ive never seen one in the field. do they do infarred fly over for counts/ where does out money go. manage the herd and show us how your doing it would be nice.

I would say they about 90% of there work from a laptop computer.

I'm not in Jersey although I have a non hunting brother that lives there. I can tell you here in Central Kentucky we have had a significant issue with EHD. One 30 acre farm found 14 dead around a livestock pond. It appears there are higher number in the eastern mountains of KY. We know that a small percentage are lost due to the midges bit this year is profound
