!984 in Atco, Wharton state forest. In a swamp opening day, 4pm. Spike buck. I had a single shot h/r 12 gauge with a full choke 00 buck shot. He was coming right at me, stopped about 25 yards away and turned broadside, I shot, and one of the pellets broke his front leg, keeping him from running off. The second shot put him down. I was 18 years old, and could hardly contain my excitement. I had two friends hunting with me, one of which has passed away since then. But it was a very special moment.
