I'm on stand yesterday afternoon from 4:30. Just around 6:15 I finally see 2 mature doe with no fawns coming my way. I had thrown out a few apples down a natural path and they took the bait. All week all I've had are either bucks or doe with young fawns come in. Anyway, I pick my spot, put the scope from the excalibur on her heart, and then I think to myself, wow this is the first time I'm using a lumenok on a bolt or arrow. Now I'm consumed with wanting to see the pretty red light as the broadhead does it's job. That's the point where aiming was an after thought. As I hastily pulled the trigger, I then indeed see my pretty red glowing lumenok sticking in a tree 5 feet to the left of where I was aiming. At this point the doe looks at the bolt and I swear she was looking at me. I was honestly waiting for her to give me the finger or hoof and say, "YOU IDIOT"!!!!

As soon as I got home, I removed every lumenok from all xbow bolts and from my Easton arrows for the compound. I do realize it's in no way lumenoks fault, I just didn't think the shot through to the very end. That's what I get for forgetting the basics and being preoccupied with wanting to see the pretty red light...

Lesson learned, be patient and forget everything else until the shot is done. Thank God I missed her completely and the only things wounded were the tree and my pride..

That lighted knock is one of the best tools you can have xbow hunting. Seeing your shoot placement is the biggest factor in when to trail & whether or not you're going to jump a wounded deer to never be seen again. Foolish reaction to your poor shot placement

I killed a doe Sunday with the xbow using Nocturnals for the first time. The nock broke off the back when it passed through and out the other side of the deer. The light was still lit up on the bolt but it cant be used again. there went $10 they were $30 for 3 full captures. My shcwacker was also bent bad so im down a broad head also. But atleast the deer died quickly. No shoulder bone left. Should have aimed back a little more. Took me until the next morning to find her. I probably walked by her in the dark 3 times and just didn't see the doe in the briars. Amazing what you can find in the sunlight lol.

Zone9 congrats on the doe, that's one bent broad head...

RDF as I stated in the OP I fully realize it wasn't the fault of the Lumenok. It was my inability to stay focused on the shot that caused my complete miss.

I've heard it said that you learn more from your losses than you do from your victories. Lesson learned about following through and staying on the target....but.....I might be inclined to give the lighted nocks another chance......

btw...are those Red Hots ur shooting? How well did the Nockturnals fit?

Yep Parker red hots the Nockturnals went right in. Warm up the glue like it says on the blister pack, they slid right in like a glove. Kinda sucks the first one I used broke but ohh well.
