Took my son out today to Zone 8 to try to get a doe or two to fill the freezer. He chose to set up his own spot downwind of the deer and within 30 minutes later, he had a big doe come out at 60 yards. He grunted to stop her and then made the shot. His bullet took out her heart and she ran 50 yards before collapsing. She had the biggest head on a doe that I've ever saw and she was not carrying any fawns at all. My son said that she was all by herself. The best thing was, he chose where to set up and it was bait free. He's learning how to hunt by himself.
