They are truly great dogs to have and to hunt with. My good friend has 3 of them and this year he let me take his oldest one out this year for his final hunting season. The dog had terminal cancer and he was put down about 3 weeks ago. He still pointed the birds like a champ and retrieved them as well. Setters dont get the recognition that they should get. Enjoy every minute with that dog brother. They are the best.

Setters DID get that recognition 50-60 years ago. Two styles controlled the field trial circuits then; English Pointers and English Setters. Times have changed as well as people's tastes and as more styles and breeds of dogs made their way to the U.S. post-WWII, handlers and hunters gained more variety.
