I wanted to post up a few pictures from our first round at the Picatinny Arsenal Hunters Helping Heroes wounded hunting program. We hosted 3 combat wounded vets from 11-14 October and had an amazing time with these men. We flew in Larry and his son Garon from Ohio and we also flew up Tom from his current base Quantico in VA. We had donated meals from Jon Kondash of Remcon Enterprises, Dominico’s Pizza, Texas Smoke House BBQ and Brick 46. Jon also helped us out in a major way by transporting all our deer over to Tom the Butcher for processing and then took our capes over to Rick Baumann our taxidermist from All Hunts Taxidermy!
We have 3 more hunters coming in from 1-4 November to wrap up things for the year. One is a Hamilton New Jersey combat wounded hero, another is still Active Duty at Fort Dix and has a Purple Heart and Silver Star and then we are flying in our last member from Mississippi!!!
Each of our hunters received a custom made and engraved Daniel Winkler hand forged knife and sheath…
Me giving the presentation and explaining the meaning behind these custom knives…
Larry and his son Garon shooting the Carbon Express CX2…
Our group for the hunts!!!
Major Morris and myself making sure CPL Larry Draughn Jr. (Ret.) is dead on with the crossbows we set up for them…
Larry and his 4-year old son Garon flinging some arrows
SFC Josh Johnston getting acquainted with the crossbow at the base indoor shooting range
SGT Tom Holland getting his shoot on as well
A group photo at Brick 46 where we had our volunteer appreciation luncheon and the presentation to our hunters. Each of our hunters received their custom Daniel Winkler knife, $1,500 and a free shoulder mount by Rick Baumann at All Hunts Taxidermy!!!
Larry, Garon and Major Morris with the stud 11-point that Larry took down, he was 230lbs on the hoof!
Larry and Garon by our little fire pit
Some of the kids checking out another harvest
Group shot by the fire of a management doe
The Carbon Express CX2 crossbows we are using, shooting a blazing fast 385 fps and we have 4 of them for our program…
Tom and Major Morris with Tom’s first two deer ever…
Josh and I were sitting in one of the box blinds trying to get our kill on…
Thanks for looking,
Ryan
