getting into muzzy hunting this year and i cant make up my mind which one would you buy

omega for sure top it with a nikon omega bdc scope the omega can actually cost as much as the encore depending on which model you get! I have the the blue/black model with thumbhole stock, got it from cabellas. very good price

bdc reticle is over rated what happens when you change bullet weight or powder loads ? besides what range is the first dot below crosshairs when sighted in for 100 yards ?

Why would you change bullet weight or powder loads if they work perfect for you? The first dot is 150yds

and if they don't work well out of that gun with the loads they call for then what do you do ? lets just say you wanted to go Bear or Hog hunting and wanted a Heavier bullet. 150 is a long shot and what about the other Dots Come on how far is an ethical shot with a Muzzy from a tree shooting offhand ?

When I muzzy hunt in maine we setup on the hay fields in a ground blind 200yd is not out of the question

Parker bows a 250 grain bullet with 150 grains of powder is enough to take down a deer, bear or hog so i dont know why you would need to change? I also agree that anything over 100/150 is a little too far for me[up]

glad we agree but answer me how many dots in the scope ? i sight in for 2 inches high at 100 yards that gets me good at any shot i have ever taken. i hunt on wide open horse fields a 125 yard shot is just too iffy.

so if you ask me that scope with all them dots are not needed. This way you can lighten your Powder load or play around with your bullets. i shoot 300 grain bullets with 125 grains of 777 pellets

I mean i agree i shoot 250 grain bullets with 100 grains of powder, and have the scope sighted in at 75yds perfect, that my safe distance[up]

But i like to have the bdc feature if i ever want to really use it
