I as some know I am new to waterfowling. I have hunted Black river in the flood plain, dragging my dekes to the waters edge and hoping for the best. This off season I have decided to build myself a small hunting craft. Here you can see the start of my Cajun Pirogue. It is 13'ft long and can carry about 450 lbs and only draw a few inches of water. It will have a flat bottom and is touted as being very stable. The best part is it "should" only weigh about 60-65lbs so I can load it myself.
Anyone got any real experience with this type of craft? It should hold me the mut and a few dekes, allowing me to get to the better spots to get ducks and geese. Here is the pic.
