I've had a bear coming around my yard pretty much every day/night the past few days. Now there's a little chunk of woods, but we don't get bears regularly by a long shot. Totally residential neighborhood, maybe 15 acres of woods surrounded by houses. Right on Mt Arlington Blvd in mt Arlington/landing. I'm sure enough of you know where that is. Been here for over a year and only seen one other bear last summer. They must stick to Berkshire Valley and not want to cross Howard Blvd to wander the neighborhood. I know they're on the move now, but it looks like this ones sticking around. My question is, can I shoot him with a rubber slug? I'm sure one of my neighbors will call the police if thy hear a shot, but is that legal? It's a non-lethal home defense rubber slug. Just want to let him know he doesn't wanna be around here.

Put out a couple tin pans with bleach in his path or around your house,the bleach will keep them from your house but as long as there is a food source or garbage cans or a bait pile they will come back, seen the federal or state rangers trap a bear by my neighbors house because the bear kept ripping there garbage out the garbage cans, the federal rangers trapped the bear in a barrel trap and took it like 5 miles away and let it go, they said they were going to rubber buck shot it and have dogs run it off, don't know if they did that but that bear was back the NEXT day. I leave bleach out in tins, they don't come by my house anymore, if one of your neighbors has garbage around they will be back, good luck!
