What an awesome night! The perfect east wind for this stand and a cool breeze in my face. The action started early with does coming into the field from all sides. Along with a few spikes and one three pointer. A couple pass within bow range but I took my doe earlier in the week and was looking for one of the bigger bucks that I had seen earlier this month. Although a dirt bike rider on the property next to me ran most of the deer off. They came right back out once he quit for the night. It was 6:30 and I had just had six more does run/walk by when I looked back up along the treeline to see this brute step out. I hoped he would travel the same trail they did. Putting him within 25 yards of me. Lady luck was shinning on me, cause that's just what he did. He stopped on his own and my arrow found its mark, a double lung hit. He kicked and ran out into the field only thirty yards and stopped. A few wobbles and he was down. I was so happy to see him drop right there. I want to thank Bowguide for helping me put up that stand. Because of the radiation treatments I have been going for the last four weeks. I have not been able to put up my own stand and had to rely on friends to help me. That makes this buck even more special. Friends helping friends. I took this deer the Tred Barta way. No bait! just hunting sign, scouting and playing the wind. I very proud of myself and this deer.
