Matt's morning started off climbing into a lock-on on private property with HighGuy. He had his sights on a nice 6 point that we had been getting pictures of all week, but that was not to be . . .
They started off this morning being visited by does, followed by a fox, some turkeys and the usual squirrels. Time passed and eventually Deidre shot her buck. Matt was very excited for her, but still committed to sitting it out . . .
More time passed and eventually the 6pt made his way to within about 100 yards of them, but just kept walking through, never closing the distance. By 2pm HighGuy and I had talked, yes, they were still in a tree, and we decided that Matt, this being his third year, should shoot whatever he had an opportunity at and not give any deer a pass.
Well, by 2:45 I got a text that Matt had dropped a nice 4pt in his tracks. Wahoo !!! Deidre and I were thrilled for him !!! We met up with them after they checked in Matt's deer and I hauled both bucks to the butcher at once . . . yippy, meat in my freezer again as it was getting pretty bare.
I am so proud of both of my young hunters as they both made excellent shots and toughed out the conditions today, showing Mama Grit what they're made of
A HUGE thanks to HighGuy for helping Matt finaly "Get R Done" !!!
