If they're usually going from bedding to food and reverse how far do they travel, do they sometimes take detour on the way? Speculation is welcome and anything scientific would be awesome. This is concerning an "average" whitetail in Northern NJ. I know there will be some variation but what causes it?

My buddy shot a 10 pt. in Ohio at 4:00 PM, his picture was taken on another property on a trail cam 3 miles away at 5:00 AM the same day.
